You'll never regret taking lots of pictures and video......especially if you're using digital technology!
Here are some ideas for both pictures and video.  If your confused as to where to start, please e-mail me and I'll
be glad to help you!  Contact

~receiving and opening the referral package, referral photos, acceptance letter, celebrations, announcements,

the moment he or she is in your arms, your family together, first time feeding, napping, playing, bathing, etc.

Ceremonies:
~registration, court hearing, swearing in ceremony, family dressed up, other families present (because of
heightened security, most embassy and consulate offices don't allow photos or video inside or outside buildings)
If in China, a "red couch" photo (video of the ordeal is sometimes funny too)

~restaurants, markets, street signs, street traffic, street vendors, museums, etc

Departure and arrival home:
~adoption facilitators in the airport with the families, in flight with the child, others on the plane, arrival in the

Let me do it all for you or...
First decide on how long you want your video and the mood it will portray.  Do you want most of your photos
and lots of your video footage included?  This will sum up your journey like a scrapbook- a little of
everything!  I recommend at least a 4-5 song video.  If you want an overview of the journey with highlights of
the important moments... then a 3-song video would be perfect.

I suggest 2 slow songs for the beginning (one song for paperchasing, one song leading up to gotcha day)
and at least one upbeat song for those great family moments that follow.  You don't have to follow this
suggestion though- see the beginning song for "Our Journey to Tamara"  We started pretty upbeat, then had
some great slow songs for gotcha.

Next you can start organizing your materials.  Take a look at all of your photos and choose your favorites by
labeling in pencil with a post-it note (please take care to not write while your post-it is on the photo).  Also
include important dates or captions.  You may even want to start at the time your family decided to adopt,
leading up to those important dates such as a Log In Date, Referral Day, etc.  Include copies of important
paperwork, cards or emails from family or friends.  ANYTHING that has a special meaning can be included!  If
you have photos on a cd, start writing down the file names and short descriptions with any important dates or
captions.  Keep everything in chronological order. Post-its are great for changing your mind!!

Now take a look at your video footage.  Remember... average songs are only 3-4 minutes long, so you need
to cut down your clips to 10-15 second segments.  Write down the counter on the vcr or camcorder and a
basic description of what is happening.

Write down any ideas you have, poems you like, scriptures that are important to your family or parts of other
videos that you love.   If you have well organized notes for the order of photos and video segments, the
faster your video will come together.  If you have specific ideas- write them down, if you are quite lost, send
me your materials in as best chronological order as possible and let me work with them.  I always upload
parts of your video that I'm working on to your private web page for you to view.  Make comments,
suggestions or changes as necessary.  I guarantee the video will be what you envisioned!!

Congrats! Your well on your way to your very own journey video!!

Now where do you begin??

Using your family favorites is always a fun idea. Keep in
mind the mood you want to set for your video.  Since I
charge per song, any song well over 5 minutes in length
may result in an additional charge.   I can also use a
portion of a song with fade in / out.

Red Thread:
Ancient Chinese Legend says there is an invisible red thread
that connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time,
place or circumstance.  The thread may stretch, or tangle,
but never break.

Chinese Legend
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

The Adopted One   ~Fleur Conkling Heyliger's
Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone
But still miraculously my own
Never forget for even a minute
You did not grow under my heart
But in it

Saying ~Unknown Author
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take,
but by the moments that take your breath away.

Adoption Poem ~Author Unknown
I did not give you the gift of life,
but in my heart I know,
The love I feel is deep and real,
as if it had been so.
For us to have each other is
like a dream come true!
No, I didn't give you the gift of life,
Life gave me the gift of you.

Isaiah 43:5
...I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above

1Corinthians 13:13
And now these 3 remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of
these is love.

1Sam 1:27
For this child I prayed and the Lord has granted me what I asked of
Him.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not yet seen.
